Leah Remini and Angelo Pagán are ironing out the details of their split.
Exactly one week after announcing their plans to divorce after 28 years together, the exes have officially filed paperwork to end their marriage. As for what they are seeking in their split, the former pair have kept their terms simple for the time being, according to court documents obtained by E! News Sept. 5.
Since the former couple’s daughter Sofia, 20, is no longer a minor, neither is eligible for child support, and the King of Queens star has requested that the state terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support to either herself or Angelo.
As for Angelo, he signed off on the request and the exes’ only remaining conditions lie within their property.
Leah has listed their separate property and assets as well as their community property and assets as having a “to be determined” status, noting that she plans to present a list of property and assets to be divided.
The non-contentious filing mirrors the former couple’s announcement of their split in August.
“This decision came after a lot of thought and care,” Leah and Angelo wrote in a joint statement on Instagram Aug. 29, “And as hard as divorce is, we are approaching this with a positive outlook because we know it’s what’s best for us.”
As for what led to their difficult decision, the two, who have been together for more than two decades, explained, “To put it simply, we both changed, as people do, and we got used to playing roles that didn’t fit us anymore. After a lot of effort and consideration, we’ve decided to take this step, which reflects who we are today.”
The co-parents noted that they plan to spend future holidays together and get together as a family amidst their split.
“Our bond is still strong—it’s just evolved into something different,” they continued. “We think a marriage that lasted this long and created so many beautiful memories, especially raising our incredible daughter, is something to celebrate.”
